Our Services
1. Play Therapy
Play therapy is a therapeutic approach that uses play as a medium to support children in working through emotional, behavioural, and social challenges. Because children often do not yet have the cognitive or verbal capacity to articulate complex thoughts and feelings, play becomes their natural language of expression. Through play, children can safely communicate what they are experiencing internally - sometimes without even realising it.
At Sprout Therapy Centre, we use play not only as a tool for healing and growth but also as a way to understand a child’s internal world, experiences, and needs. This insight allows us to support children in developing healthier ways of expressing their emotions, connecting with others, exploring new behaviours, and practicing essential problem-solving skills.
Play therapy can assist with a variety of difficulties:
Anxiety
Depression
Trauma
Grief & Bereavement
Difficulties related to self-confidence
Peer Pressure
Worries & Fears
Difficulties with social skills and interactions
Anger & Aggression
Attachment difficulties
2. Psychotherapy & Counseling
At Sprout Therapy Centre, psychotherapy and counselling are offered in both individual and group formats, depending on the unique needs of the child or family.
In individual therapy, a child, adolescent, or adult works one-on-one with a registered psychologist in a warm, nurturing, and non-judgmental space. Together, we explore emotional or behavioural challenges, build insight, and develop supportive strategies for growth and resilience.
Group therapy provides an opportunity for individuals with shared experiences to connect in a safe and guided environment. These sessions offer not only therapeutic support but also a sense of community, where participants can share, listen, and encourage one another while exploring personal challenges and learning healthy coping tools.
Our group offerings may include parent support groups, family therapy sessions, and therapeutic groups for children and teens, such as those focused on building social skills, emotional intelligence, or self-regulation. At Sprout, whether in individual or group sessions, we honour the power of connection and collaboration in the healing process.

3. Assessments
Psychological and psycho-educational assessments are offered by our team in order to investigate, identify, and support an individual’s strengths and areas for growth. These assessments are conducted using standardised psychometric instruments and can be tailored to suit the specific purpose of the assessment.
Assessments we offer:
a) School Readiness Assessment
Used to gain insight into a child’s current readiness for formal schooling. These assessments incorporate an evaluation of cognitive, emotional, and developmental abilities. The results of these assessments can be used to identify possible areas of support for your child and to determine the most effective support plan.
b) Psycho-Educational Assessment
Conducted for school-age children. These assessments evaluate cognitive, scholastic, and emotional functioning. This information is collated and interpreted to gain insight into the child’s strengths and areas for growth and to inform an appropriate support plan.
c) Assessments required for concession applications
Psycho-educational assessments that fulfil the requirements of the GDE or IEB to form part of the application process for concessions/accommodations.
d) Subject-Choice and Career Guidance Assessments
Conducted to gain insight into an individual’s aptitude, interests, and personality, as well as their career narrative, in order for the individual to make an informed decision regarding their subject- or career choice.

5. Study Skills
Effective studying is a skill that can be learned and strengthened over time. Study skills encompass both practical techniques and supportive habits that influence how well a learner is able to study and retain information.
At Sprout Therapy Centre, our study skills sessions are designed to help learners build tools such as summarising, mind mapping, and active recall, alongside important habits like time management, planning, and managing academic stress. These sessions are personalised to address each learner’s unique needs, learning style, and developmental stage, with the goal of fostering confidence, independence, and academic success.
